It’s Christmas Eve, and I suspect many of you have your OOO on and are easing into holiday mode. I’m feeling it!
I had written something for last week and opted against sending it after chatting to a few friends and realising just how ‘over it’ and ready-for-holiday-mode everyone seems to be…
But I thought I would pop in, wish you all a wonderful break, and offer three things I’m being intentional about (as it relates to communication) this holiday season, in case they’re helpful for you:
Reading physical books: I’m currently re-reading Paulo Coehlo’s By the River Piedra I sat down and wept. I had almost forgotten how magnificent his prose is! This intention is all about managing my communication input to give my brain a rest - less digital, more words on a page.
Approaching conversations with more empathy (I’m always trying!): we truly don’t know what others are feeling / thinking / going through when we engage in conversation, and the more I practice empathy the better I feel about myself. Hopefully this extends to others too.
Giving myself space for my thoughts to wander: again, this is really about managing input to make space - in this case for more creativity. I am changing a few things up in 2025 and I’m feeling the pull to let a few ideas ‘marinate’ in spaciousness. Walking without any intention other than walking, watching the sun rise + set without taking photos, playing outside with my kids, technology nowhere nearby. More of these pleasures!
Whatever your plans are for the end of 2024 and beginning of 2025, I wish you peace, joy and health. Thank you for your support through this year of experiment!
May 2025 bring you the very best of all that life has to offer,
Larissa
